they immediately set up the conflict between kylo and hux and repeatedly highlighted it, there’s no chance it isn’t a plot point in ep9. also, do you feel kylo is at the end of ep8 where anakin was towards the middle/end of ROTS? i’m still very attached to the idea of reverse anidala for reylo and tlj did nothing to dispel it

Yes, the fact that Snoke is dead is creating a power vacuum. And the fact that his first act as Renperor was a complete failure because of his emotions, means that the armies are more likely to follow Hux than Kylo. It’s a power vacuum that we’re going to see happen in Ep 9.

You saw how the men weren’t sure whose orders to follow – Hux always gave them orders on supreme leader’s wishes, Kylo always stayed away. Will be a problem if he wants to lead – aside from all the other stuff.

I don’t quite know what you’re saying with the middle of ROTS, but yes I think we’re in the middle of a fantastic enemies to lovers arc where both are now fully aware of their feelings – and have to deal with them knowing they’re ‘enemies’.

Why do you think Kylo said that Rey killed Snoke?

Because you can’t tell the guy who hates your guts that you killed his Supreme Leader to protect a girl you’re supposed to hate and expect to not be murdered or attempt to be executed on the spot.

Hux following Kylo is tentative at best, but if Kylo told him the truth? It’d have been a total cluster and a complete coup.

As it is, I imagine the truth of that scene will out in Ep 9 and there will be backlash.

I think the ending is appropriate, since after Rey and Kylo fight together all I could think of was “OK I’m loving this but it’s too good to be true???” And if they’re actually together wth is the next movie gonna be? Also a question: what’s with the dice disappearing at the end idgi?

Yeah exactly, they can’t blow all their load in one movie – this was ALL set up. Laying the groundwork in a very overt way.

The dice at the end disappeared because Luke was projecting himself, and thus the dice, when he spoke with Leia. They disappeared when Luke went to be one with the force.

honestly the only thing keeping me alive by a thread was the anticipation of rey’s parentage. esp after the GLORIOUS fight, i was dreading kylo to say “my sister” or “my cousin” or some shit like that after he said he saw rey’s parents.

omg I was panicking even though I knew it wasn’t solo or skywalker, there were like THREE MOMENTS before it happened for real.

I was like BITCHES BETTER NOT SAY THEY’RE RELATED, even though there are years of evidence to the contrary, in those moments I was on pins and needles lol

So i just saw the movie and it was awesome but idk what to think of the ending. I loved all the reylo moments through out the movie but the endin was so???? whats gonna happen with reylo now?! whats your thoughts?

The ending was GREAT and appropriate imo. Kylo was alone, holding Han’s dice in his hands (close up!!) as he watches Rey inthe Force bond. They silently communicate, he basically say you fucked up Kylo YOU COULDA BEEN HERE, and Kylo looking miserable cause he just KNOWS it’s true and is so lost again – by his own design and choices.

They’re still tied together with the force bond, so wherever they are they’re going to be slapped together and forced to talk like that and so let’s look forward to THAT, cause if it IS a time jump…that’s potentially years of them.

I saw a twitter review that said Kylo was technically right. Probably about no jedi or sith or any of it but a new order. A GRAY order, perhaps?

In his speech to get Rey to join him by his side, he said stuff like ‘forget all of it – sith, jedi, first order, let’s make something NEW’.

I think what the movie drove home is that the Jedi term is now simply synonymous with a good force user, rather than any kind of philosophy or strict instructions/teachings.

But yes Kylo did say he wanted to leave all of it in the past – sith AND jedi. It was very good, I have no idea how Rey turned it down (yes I do, he was still in denial that the FO was bad, she didn’t want them to have any part in it).

I AM ON CLOUD NINE. I had so little expectation, i just wanted SOME moments to add into reylo shipping material, and then during the movie i was just smiling uncontrollably the whole time cos IT’S WAY BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. (side note: it’s really fun to look at antis salty af reaction to the movie)

IF YOU HAD NO EXPECTATIONS THEN IDK HOW YOU’RE ALIVE RIGHT NOW, I would’ve been blown to smithereens lol

It’s SO MUCH. Like, I don’t know if we could have expected MORE than what we got. Maybe him splitting from the FO going rogue, I could have seen that and loved it, but ultimately we got all the emotional and relationship development we could hope for tbh.

And yeah, my ask and messages are filled with ants that I’m not responding to, bitter jerks lol

How do you think Rey went from hating Kylo’s guts to caring for him so deeply that quick?

Kind of how we predicted TBH – as soon as she learned more about the Force and its complications, and when she learned more about what happened to have Ben Solo turn, she was almost immediately sympathetic.

One point that wasn’t made yet but is extremely important: in the hut force bond scene, we don’t see the beginning of it. We come in as she’s telling him a very intense story and opening up to him about stuff, they’re talking to each other like they’ve been doing it for years. Open, casual, important. Their bond is one that was forged very quickly for many reasons, but mostly because they are THE OTHER SIDE OF EACH OTHER and they know it now.
