I think the big bad will be the ideals of the First Order, and Hux. Kylo might lead, might be exiled, but I have a REALLY hard time believing they’re going to have him just be the big bad.

So this isn’t quite Reylo related, but that scene in the trailer with Kylo in the Silencer. Does that turn out as bad as it seems?
No. He did what we thought he would do – he moves his finger from the trigger and very consciously decides NOT to shoot. But then the tie fighters beside him do it for him and he looks shocked and concerned – he made a choice NOT to, but it happened anyway.
I have a prediction for the next movie and i would like to share it with you :) I’m sure that Hux is now full of rage against Ben. He will try to lower Ben from the throne and i’m sure Ben will sense this and Rey will be able to feel it too. When she sense this strike, she will join Ben to protect him from all kinds of harm. At the end of the TLJ she barely refused his proposal. I don’t think she can resist him once again. Cause she also has feelings for him. Oh my Reylo heart..
I love it and I’m sure it’ll be fanfic’d one day! =)
I definitely think Hux is going to attempt and probably succeed at some kind of Coup, Kylo just isn’t in the right space to be a leader.
And I think Rey will be a big proponent of balance rather than the ‘you have to come to MY side’ in Ep 9 – I would love to see her protect him, but I feel like her role will be more through the Force Bond and making Kylo understand how to be at peace with himself.
What would u think would really happened if kylo’s back to the light side? Now that snoke is gone i actually got my hopes up tbh… kylo choosing rey over snoke really excite me and judging by what happened next, him begging rey like that, i think kylo just want to erased of his past and make a new one and it seems like he really wants his future to be with her, Which makes me even happier tbh lol but sadly dark force still took a big role in him too. But i believe there’s still hope in him.
I think we’re going to see that Kylo doesn’t have to be one side or the other – nor does Rey. She has the Jedi manuscripts and she’s going to realize how far they strayed – that you can find balance within dark and light sides, because that’s what LIFE is.
Life, decay, the world is fed on both and that’s true for the Force as well because it comes from the universe – the energy around all things.
You’re going to see that in however many years time jump, Rey has studied that and with the bond with Kylo she’ll understand how it all went wrong and how far they all strayed.
And Kylo, by extension, will begin to realize that he doesn’t have to be torn between ONE side or another. He can be both.
Kylo WANTS to erase his past – encourages Rey to move beyond hers – but he fails miserably at it every time. Except now his past is all gone – Snoke, Han, Luke. All his former teachers, weaknesses, whatever – they’re gone. His past is ACTUALLY gone now, and he’s still lost.
But how do you think Kylo will be redeemed? We all thought his redemption would end with him killing Snoke. But now, he just went 100 pure evil. I don’t know if they will manage to give him enough punishment in the next movie to appease the public’s sense of justice, and feel like he deserves the reylo ending.
Did he really go 100% pure evil? He said to Rey ‘Let it all die, let all things pass – Luke, Snoke, Sith, Jedi, rebels – let’s bring order to the galaxy.’
He’s not 100% evil – yes we thought perhaps Snoke dying would be ep 9, but now episode 9 is shaping up to be something along the lines of a FO coup with Hux – and Kylo being exiled for being an emotional wreck who can’t lead (maybe). And the rebellion building again – There’s going to be a massive time jump of course.
Enough punishment? I mean…I have to wonder if people are watching the movie or just going off of spoilers second-hand? This was an emotionally complex movie, we see Kylo with all of his rage and emotional issues come to a head again – now he’s stripped bare, no more excuses. Only Rey.
I think the movie was supposed to….humanize Kylo and his struggle and complexity so that it lessens this childish rabidnature of needing ‘suitable punishment’.
As Rian said, you have to give hope to the lost ones as well. Kylo is a lost one who has to find his way back and earn it. That’s completely possible.
Ask from @distractednerdish sorry if you’ve already answered this, I just refollowed after watching the movie (wanted to avoid spoilers!). I believe the vision they had was of a future where Rey and Kylo/Ben are working together towards a goal that isn’t the rebellion or the FO/light side or dark side, but a balance between them. This seems to be something quite a few agree on? What did you think of it?
Note: Sorry! I accidentally hit this as private but I wanted it public for others to read, so reposting =)
Don’t worry about it! I’ve answered a lot of duplicates and I’m happy to do it – my asks tag is growing insanely fast…
Anyway, thanks for the follow back! To your question:
Yes 100% I think they saw the same thing when they touched, but from a certain point of view Kylo thought it meant that she would turn to HIS side and rule with him and Rey thought the certainty in his future was because he was on HER side.
When in reality it’s the same vision – Kylo’s was more clear, Rey’s was FIRM but not specific.
I think Kylo saw Rey with him, but not as renperor or dark side, but just as Rey and Kylo. And I think Rey saw a clear future with him as Ben Solo AND her – his certainty and the future’s crispness was because he’s with HER. He has CHOSEN, the conflict within him has dissipated.
As others have said, Dark does NOT equal bad, nor Light good.
Both are required for the Force to function – I’ll bring attention to the symbol in the pool of water on Ahch-To in the cave behind Luke’s rock: it was a black and white ying yang symbol.
Because the force is about BALANCE. And Rey and Kylo have a shared future and destiny – by each others’ side, onthe same side – but balanced, not one or the other.
And neither one realizes it yet – how very wrong both of them were in their interpretation.
But Rey was right – if she hadn’t gone to Ben Solo right then, the future would not have happened the way it needed to. IE – Snoke wouldn’t have died, they wouldn’thave fought, Kylo wouldn’t have implored her to stay and realized how much she meant to him.
Do you think maybe Luke will come back in Episode IX as a force ghost? Since we got Yoda in this one I feel like it’s a possibility. And maybe not just for Rey, either, but for Ben/Kylo? I can’t decide if I want to see Luke haunting Ben literally like Han does emotionally :/
I could maybe see it, but I really think they want to have it be Rey & Kylo’s story now. Luke was SUCH a powerful presence that he couldn’t even be in TFA until the very end. They said that every time they wanted to bring him into it it just became all about Luke. TLJ managed it really well because they focused ALL on Kylo/Rey and those were two characters that had been built in the movie prior.
The only person we’ll see haunting Kylo is Rey through the Force Bond. That thing isn’t going to stop plaguing them just because the movie is over.
The antis are going to be even worse now because they never thought Reylo would happen and were overly confident in that, this movie proved them wrong. They are going to latch onto just about anything to try and tear the ship down. Like Kylo being abusive or the relationship being toxic or that Poe/Rey will have a romance in the next movie. There is no evidence of any of this, but they’ll keep saying it because they are bitter and want us just as unhappy as they are.
Yes, and that’s why I’ll give them no quarter. And I’ll also reblog any and ever salt receipt post that @ohtze gives us. Two years in the making.
Hi! I have just watched the movie today and am still very overwhelmed (a lot happens XD) and still very happy at what we got. But I am confused on a few parts which I hope you can clarify for me. Firstly, at the end of TFA it was clear that Ben felt remorse for killing his father however I found it difficult to determine if he felt sorrow by the way he justifies Han’s death to Rey. Secondly, do you believe Ben wants Rey by his side to rule the galaxy out of love or power?
It IS really overwhelming in a good way so I completely understand =) I’ve already seen it twice, and I’m gonna go to the fan event tonight and see it again after that which will MAKE IT FOUR TIMES I KNOW I’M INSANE BUT I NEEDS IT.
Anyway, he definitely feels remorse and sorrow – Snoke says in the beginning that killing Han ‘split him to the bone, you’re full of his spirit’. That’s acknowledgment that whatever Kylo had hoped to do by killing his father – removing his weakness – didn’t work and in fact made the conflict so much worse inside of him.
It’s important to understand that the movie makes it very clear that for all of Kylo’s talk about letting the past die, of not holding on to old things, etc. – he does a VERY poor job of it. He’s convinced himself that he’s successful in his endeavors, but every point in the movie shows that he’s not.
So when he tells Rey that he didn’t hate his father, that he killed him because he was his weakness, he’s again telling her the truth as he feels it. He’s very calm with Rey – almost always – and almost at peace. The words he speaks to her are…wise in their own way, but almost sound like he’s repeated them to himself a lot to try to convince him that he made the right decision.
Kylo makes a lot of overtures about not being tied to the past, but as soon as he sees the falcon in the sky he turns red ‘BLOW THAT PIECE OF JUNK OUT OF THE SKY’ and when Luke walks out he’s all ‘fire every gun we have at him’ – the dude is not big on actually letting the past die, lol.
On your second question my answer is I think Kylo wants her by his side out of love – he feels that the Force brought them together, that they share a destiny – he’s so firm in this belief, in fact, that he knew EXACTLY what he had to choose when Snoke presented him with Rey. It was never any question or hesitation from Kylo – that scene was all about him waiting for his move.
Do you think Rey and/or Kylo hate each other in the slightest bit at the end of the movie?
No. Emphatically not. Kylo VERY CLEARLY is still enraptured by Rey and wants her with him. Rey is – if anything – just disappointed that he won’t come with her.
Their last scene in the movie is a force bond moment where they both literally just stare at each other.
