So this time I am not drawing any AU comic, because this is freaking CANON.
I feel like the novelization is killing me as a fanfic writer/artist BECAUSE IT’S TOO GOOD BEYOND MY IMAGINATION WHO NEED FANFIC AFTER READING THIS SHIT, TELL ME TELL ME DISNEY I WILL LOSING MY JOB IF MY LIVING DEPEND ON THIS ASDHFASDHFALKS
I like ppl comment or reblog+comment because it is good to know what the reader’s thought and the interaction between artist and reader is fascinating, let me know your thoughts if you have any! Or else a like button I am very happy as well!
So a poster on reddit who has the audiobook for TLJ, made a post listing the music that plays during certain scenes. The Rey and Kylo ones were particularly interesting:
When Kylo Sees Water on His Hand – End notes of Anakin’s Dream ROTS
Rey in Mirror Cave – Anakin’s Dream ROTS and first notes of Across the Stars AOTC
Rey Before Snoke (probably the elevator scene)– Padme’s Ruminations and Star Wars Theme
Fight Over the Lightsaber – Han Solo and the Princess ESB
Rey Contemplating Waiting for Kylo to Turn – Across the Stars AOTC
So they use Han and Leia’s theme AND Anakin and Padme’s theme for Rey and Kylo!!!
When her tears finally ebbed, Rey lifted her head. She knew who she had to talk to about the cave, about what she had sought and what it had shown her – someone who would understand how solitude and loss could eat away at you until there was nothing left. […] The moment Rey reached her hut she had felt him near her, in the Force. The connection between them was so raw and powerful that it remided her of touching a live wire in the wreckage of a starship. She had closed her eyes, opened them, and found Kylo Ren there – right next to her where she sat on the stone bench. As if she could actually reach out and touch his hand, his face, his hair. At the sight of him she’d felt relief surge through her.
Kylo and Rey had a moment to lock eyes. Then the crimson-armored Praetorians were blurs of motion–four sets of pairs, each pair brandishing the same variant of deadly edged weapons. It was too late to save their master, but they could at least avenge his murder.
She knew only what she feared and what she feared was the truth of the voice from her dreams, the dream that had haunted her since the day her parents had abandoned her on Jakku
“Stay here, I’ll come back for you sweetheart, I promise.”
That was not the voice of her mother or her father as she had long convinced herself. The voice… was her own.
She had imagined that voice and repeated those words over and over as a child and eventually it became part of her reality.. even her dreams. They had helped her fall asleep on a hungry stomach and pushed her to persevere when the future seemed bleak.
When the years went by and her parents never returned to take her back, she never gave up the hope that someday soon they would and the nightmare of her youth would be over.
It was a false hope. Was that what Luke had tried to prompt her to confess in the library? The truth she had locked in her heart and had never let herself admit? The truth that her parents were not hard-working space merchants, trying to scrape enough for a better life for their family.
