Kylo, sacrificing his life at the end of ix: I’d like to be clear that this is for rey and if it helps any of you resistance fuckers it was completely on accident and I want you to die anyway
I think the answer is (naturally) ambiguous, but it’s a combination of two things:
1) Rey going into the dark mirror cave. I suspect she did this before or during Luke’s reconnection sequence, and I think he definitely would’ve sensed a dark touch on her after what she went through.
2) He senses Kylo on the island, or a dark presence – which is the same thing for this purpose. So he’s frantic, searching for her.
And then when he sees Rey openly talking and holding hands with Kylo, he goes from fear FOR her to fear OF her – and wants her gone. Immediately.
I mentioned I was going to do this last night, so here I am – this also looks incredibly like the Adam Driver Vogue photoshoot that we KNOW was used as concept art for TFA (that JJ worked on ICYMI lol).

NOW I’M NOT SAYING WE SHOULD FREAK OUT, but just saying that we know JJ was a big fan – they even did concept art of it using this shoot. I would not put it past them to have envisioned scenes in this same setting but couldn’t do it because it would make no sense in TFA (but now that he’s back for 9…they would).
So yeah feast your eyes on the beauty of Scotland/Ireland and use your imagination…

me: what if she still hasn’t quite figured it out and they take refuge in naboo and she’s in the grassy field and that’s when kylo comes to her in the force bond again right after crait and it’s basically the picnic lunch from atoc
Filming for Star Wars Episode IX set to begin in June in Scottish county called Argyll and other northern parts of the country. They also want to shoot scenes along the famous pass called Rest And Be Thankful.
Keep in mind though:
“The report seemed to be unsure if the rumored production would be for “Star Wars: Episode 9” or if it will be for an upcoming stand-along trilogy directed by “Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson.”
But because it’s too early for Rian Johnson to star filming already, when he is only working on the idea so far, it is assumed the rumor is for Episode IX.
I saw this on twitter yesterday and just had to comment here that this is some Outlander, space pride and prejudice part two kind of scenery yall.
This is, as Ohtze mentioned, Naboo-like and I’m emotional just thinking about it.
The biggest hurt for reylo fans would be if she kills him…
So no, that’s definitely not on our list of concerns. It would also be really silly, I don’t think that’s happening (there’s ‘paying tribute’ to past movies, and being corny with it – that would be too much. especially because it should’ve happened in 8 if at all).
I think they already had their ‘symbol’ of cutting off (even though it wasn’t, it was symbolic) in her closing the door until he gets his stuff together =)
Are you saying he didn’t? The guy has a very high pain tolerance, and took a bolt of force lightning to his body and seemed relatively unphased by it in the early part of the movie.
I’m not saying it’s certain one way or the other, but to me that doesn’t exclude the possibility. The way he was looking at her as she was being raised up and tortured – he seemed to be trying to control himself. And I won’t discount that he may have been feeling her pain, but it’s something that he knows all too well – and how to deal with it.
Side note – very side note – I think it’s also very interesting that they showed the last praetorian guard for each of them held them in very much the same way.
Well the theory behind Force Bonds (which is what they have) is that if one dies, the other cannot survive – it’s almost like their soul is ripped in half since they share consciousness across the Force. So if one is snuffed out, they die.
Of course, that’s based on Legends-type of Force Bond and they might not necessarily write it that way – they already gave us a stronger Force Bond than in legends actually, in that they can physically see and touch each other (they couldn’t in Legends stuff, it was more telepathy and sharing of minds).
So I tend to think that if one is severely wounded, that the other would share in the experience and pain to a certain extent. Rey didn’t seem affected by the blaster shot to Kylo, but it was early on in the bond – it’s definitely something that develops strength over time, as we’ve seen.
I think that…if Ben dies, she’ll spend the rest of her days feeling sundered emotionally and physically – because of the bond she shares (both Force-made and emotionally).
And I’m sure there will be fanfic that explore the exact emotions, and when I feel especially angsty I might write one myself because I’ve already killed them once.
