A free update to the mobile app, the Dark Side Expansion places players inside the virtual boots of Kylo Ren, where they’ll wield the game’s beautiful and undeniably-cool lightsaber controller and duel Star Wars legends like Yoda and Rey.
So how many percent of Kylo’s decision to kill Han were Rey’s words about being afraid of not living up to expectations?
Oh shit….! I guess that really might have played into it, especially since she was there to see the whole thing.
I was just thinking of it randomly. Like, did it play any part at all? Or was it the final nail? It was all happening so fast that he had zero time units to just sit down and cool off a bit and maybe it was just a trace of a thought at that moment, what she said to his face, but it was enough to tip it over.
And now, going into Ep. VIII, he’s going to make sure everything he does is super visible to her. He has a point to prove, and a severely wounded ego to boot.
If there weren’t seeds of dark obsession for her in Kylo’s mind before, Rey certainly planted them by calling out his fear of never living up to Vader. Because now he needs to prove himself to *her*.
^^ And he’s gonna go to the extreme he maybe wouldn’t have before. Kill me now, because I can’t stand watching self-punishing Kylo going darker and intentionally crippling his humanity because being human was what had cost him in the duel with her. His desire to have her by his side? Weakness. His inability to sway her to the dark side? Weakness. And now, he’s going to purge himself of all weaknesses just to become what she saw in his doubts. A creature in mask worthy of Vader’s name and legacy. Inadvertently, she made him into one, even if neither of them anticipated it. Anyhoo, just my headcanon.
