I’m going to assume they’re rehearsing expressions as well as movements here; if not John’s terror of Adam runs very deep indeed.
And if this is Adam smiling in character, it really stresses how disturbed Kylo is in the snow fight – you shouldn’t look like all your birthdays have come at once when you’re brutally embedding the hilt of your saber into your enemy’s shoulder.
